Why did you choose a destination wedding?
We always wanted a tropical setting on the beach. We loved the idea of celebrating our wedding over a week giving our guests the opportunity to come together, relax and have fun.
Why Palm Cove, Queensland?
We looked at several options and chose Palm Cove as we were drawn by its picturesque scenery, friendly locals and sophisticated atmosphere. The size of the town meant guests were in close proximity but still had access to a diverse range of accommodation and dining options.
How did your friends and family react?
Everyone was very excited. We were expecting the numbers to be low as we were making our friends and family travel; however we were overwhelmed by the response.
How long did it take to plan?
The planning took approximately eight months. It was a great experience but we are thankful that we only had to do it once!
How did your venue help with your planning?
Everyone who played a part in our wedding was amazing! The thought of planning a wedding from interstate was quite daunting and we only managed one trip to Palm Cove prior but the staff at Angsana were incredible and Harriet (Events Coordinator) relieved all the pressure and assisted us in the build up to our day.
How many guests and where did they stay?
One hundred guests, and the majority stayed at Angsana Resort & Spa, Peppers and the Reef Retreat.
Anything you would have done differently?
It was perfect ... our dream day!
Did you have any pre-ceremony entertainment or activities?
We had a dinner the night before at Portobello Restaurant so the guests could get to know each other and after our wedding we had an informal recovery lunch at Bella Baci so we could unwind and reflect on an amazing day before!
Describe your reception ...
Our reception was very relaxed, warm and inviting. Pre-dinner drinks and canapés were served at sunset overlooking the ocean. Tables were decorated with symbolic words of what marriage means to us, the whole room was candle lit and the dance floor overlooked the beach.
Your wedding highlight?
There are so many highlights but if we had to choose one it would be when we released the doves.
Any advice for couples planning a similar wedding?
Make sure to plan things early so you have time to respond to the unexpected, but most of all relax and enjoy your special day!
