Why did you choose a destination wedding?
We wanted a tropical wedding.

Why Coral Sea Resort?
As we live in Mansfi eld Victoria, near the snow fi elds, we wanted somewhere warm and Airlie Beach was so appealing. We researched Coral Sea Resort on the internet and it suited our budget and we fell in love with the location and the resort itself.

How did your friends and family react?
Very excited for us and themselves - a wedding with a holiday.

How long did it take to plan?
Only three months.

How did your venue help with your planning?
Coral Sea Resort gave us so much assistance with contacts for photographers, entertainment, the menu and decorating the reception. They made it so much easier, we couldn’t have asked for more. They were always prompt in returning calls and nothing was a problem. They appeared to be just as excited as us, organising our day.

How many guests and where did they stay?
We had 25 family and friends and they all stayed at Coral Sea Resort and loved it.

Anything you would have done differently?
Not a thing except maybe stay longer as we just didn’t want it to end.

Did you have any pre-ceremony entertainment or activities?
Most of our guest arrived two days before the wedding. It gave them a chance to experience The Whitsundays area with day trips, shopping or just lounging around the pool. We all caught up the night before at a local restaurant.

Describe your reception ...
Our reception was absolutely beautiful - the location of Coral Sea Resort Private Jetty, the layout, the view and the menu. It was such a relaxed atmosphere and Coral Sea Resort’s staff couldn’t do enough for us and our guests. The menu was to- die-for and most people had seconds or even thirds.

Your wedding highlight?
We can’t just name one highlight as it was all amazing from when we woke up till we went to bed.

Any advice for couples planning a similar wedding?
Don’t hesitate, just do it! Coral Sea Resort is the destination to get married. With assistance from the girls at Coral Sea Resort, it’s not that hard to organise. At the average wedding the bridal couple is so busy you hardly see everyone for very long, but doing it this way we spent fi ve relaxing days with our bridal party and guests before and after our wedding.
