Climate: Great variance with two very distinct seasons. Summer (the wet season) hot days up to 40C, with rain falling in the form of heavy, short downpours in the late afternoon. Cyclones are known to form during the wet season. Winter is the most popular time to visit the region, with temperatures averaging a comfortable 20C to 30C.
