Romantic accommodation, honeymoons & holidays Great Ocean Road
The Great Ocean Road, or 'Shipwreck Coast', is in south-western Victoria and offers lots of luxurious and romantic accommodation for couples. Starting just south of Geelong at Torquay and stretching 243 kilometres down to Allansford, just east of Warrnambol, it is recognised as one of the world's most scenic drives. A romantic getaway, weekend away or honeymoon in any part of the Great Ocean Road region will be a time for relaxation amidst breathtaking coastal scenery and country hospitality.
There is much to see and do in the region. Enjoy day trips to one of the many beach tourist towns like Lorne, Apollo Bay, Port Fairy and Port Campbell; visit the Twelve Apostles on the 'Shipwreck Coast' in Port Campbell National Park - a spectacular sight at any time of the day; enjoy the 'step on and step off' trail of the Great Ocean Walk which leads from Apollo Bay to Glenample Homestead, adjacent to the Twelve Apostles; and visit Cape Otway Light Station located on sea cliffs where Bass Strait and the Southern Ocean meet. Of course it's the sea that most people will recognise the region for but don't forget about the majestic mountains of the Otway Ranges. Warrnambool is the playground of the Southern Right Whales who make return visits in June. And, just 20 minutes along the road from Warrnambool is the charming seaside village of Port Fairy.
There are also plenty of wonderful dining options available throughout the whole region, and accommodation options abound with charming B&Bs, cottage retreats and other boutique accommodation venues which will help make your romantic getaway, honeymoon or short break to the Great Ocean Road one you will never forget.
