West of Melbourne is Victoria's second largest city, Geelong. This is the gateway to Victoria's Surf Coast (The Great Ocean Road) and the Bellarine Peninsula, renowned for its bay and ocean beaches, wineries, boating, colourful coastal villages, golf courses, and picturesque countryside. The historic town of Queenscliff brims with Victoria-era buildings, fishermens' cottages, and fascinating galleries and shops.
