The South West region of Western Australia is perhaps most famous for the Margaret River. Rich in natural and man-made attractions, Margaret River is an ideal short break, romantic holiday or honeymoon destination for couples who love pristine beaches, good food, and fabulous wine. The Margaret River (and surrounding areas) offer the perfect mix of ingredients for any couple.
The wild, rugged beauty of the whole region will leave you astounded. Couples who love good food and wine will enjoy the many wineries, who often serve world-class meals along with their (in often case) world-renown wine. Even the intrepid traveller will enjoy the region, with tracks such as the Cape to Cape Track, which stretches from Cape Leeuwin to Cape Naturaliste. The total journey takes between 5-6 days with lots of awe-inspiring stops and welcome camping rests.
Large stingrays, and, often schools of dolphines and the occasional seal grace the waters of Hamelin Bay. Like we said, if good food, great wine, stunning beaches, and amazing wildlife and natural surrounds are 'your thing', the Margaret River will not disappoint. Make sure you see the all of the unique attractions and lifestyles of Denmark, Albany, Yallingup and Manjimup (to name just a few towns in this region).
The drive from Perth takes approximately 2 - 5 hours depending on how deeply into the region you travel.
