The rugged Shipwreck Coast begins at Princetown on the Great Ocean Road, just minutes from some of the world’s most spectacular coastal scenery – the majestic Twelve Apostles in the Port Campbell National Park. Sunrise, sunset, winter or summer, the sheer magnificence of these picturesque limestone rock stacks will never fail to impress.
Port Campbell is one seaside haven that must be visited – it is the perfect spot to catch a wave or scuba dive some of the nearby shipwrecks. Drive further into the region and farmers will greet you with a cheery wave as you amble along tranquil country roads, where you may want to indulge in some of the areas culinary delights which include delicious farmhouse cheeses, ice cream and freshly grown berries.
Head back to the coastal city of Warrnambool, the playground of the Southern Right Wales, due to make a return visit in June. Just 20 minutes along the road from Warrnambool is the charming seaside village of Port Fairy. The picturesque harbour of Port Fairy is a romantic getaway haven – sensational beaches stretch for miles, and the historic buildings make Port Fairy one of the most appealing towns in Australia.
