It is hard to really recommend highlights for Thailand has it has so many! But here are a few of the Oasis Travel favourites:
Bangkok
Whether a first time visitor or old hand, Bangkok has the ability of providing new experiences. With so much to offer including great restaurants, some of the world’s best hotels, fabulous nightlife and some of the world’s best shopping, Bangkok is always a cultural feast for the senses.
Chiang Mai
The second city and gateway to the delights of Northern Thailand, Chiang Mai, maybe only be a fraction of the size of its illustrious big brother but it can certainly pack a big punch. With unbelievable accommodation (the Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi Chiang Mai rates as one of the world’s best resorts not just one of Thailand’s), a stunning range of restaurants and for the culture vultures - temples on every corner - this city should not be missed.
Krabi
Thailand’s beaches are justifiably rated as amongst the worlds best, but Krabi is without doubt our favourite beach retreat. Away from the tourist throngs found in Phuket and Koh Samui, Krabi meanders along at a much more relaxed pace. But hurry, the secret is out there, and more and more hotels are being planned to open in the coming years. However, up to now, development has been out of sight and non-intrusive leaving you free to relax on some of the planets premium pure white sand beaches.
Sukhothai
Located in lush parkland you will find the peaceful lotus ponds, carved Buddha images and ancient ruins of Sukhothai a real delight. So few tourists make the slight detour to get here that you will feel like you have the place to yourself. A morning exploring, either on foot or by bicycle will live long in the memory. Just remember to take your camera!
Cooking Classes
Take home the flavours of Thailand and impress your friends and family and learn the ancient secrets of Thai cooking. Aromatic flavours such as chillies, lemon grass, lime juice, coconut milk are all on the menu…..let an expert lead you through the techniques and recipes that will allow you to knock up a Phad Thai or traditional red, green or yellow curry in no time! Cooking courses can be added in most destinations, just ask for details.
Grand Palace and Wat Pho
No matter if you have been 10 times before, the Grand Palace and Wat Pho in Bangkok are always breath taking. After expolring the mirrored glass and marble minarets of the former palace head to Wat Pho – part of the same complex – and take a massage from one of the students at the massage school. The perfect way to spend the day!
Thailand’s National Parks
Thailand has a wealth of National Parks in all areas of the country, so getting in touch with nature is easy to include in most itineraries. You can explore by jeep or on foot and depending on how adventurous you are it is even possible to stay under canvas (in fixed luxury tents of course!) deep in the forests and jungles. You can swim in pure rivers and might even see wild elephants or gibbons if you’re lucky, but we guarantee you will always take away fond memories of the fabulous scenery!
