Romantic cottages in Pokolbin in the Hunter Valley
It's very refreshing to land on the doorstep of Billabong Moon, an unmistakable celebration of relaxed Australian style. Just two hours from Sydney, Billabong Moon is situated among the vineyards and olive groves on Hermitage Road at Pokolbin in that part of the Lower Hunter Valley known as Wine Country.
With five romantic cottages on 25 acres the emphasis is on privacy and relaxation for couples and small groups. Three studio cottages are perfect for a romantic getaway or share the larger two bedroom cottages with special friends. Each cottage has a large wraparound verandah and iron roof. Colours throughout reflect the relaxing greens and earthy tones of the surrounding Hunter Valley landscape.
One cottage is perched on the edge of a large dam with abundant wildlife, while another has views from its romantic two-person spa to Mt Brokenback and the neat rows of vines across the rolling hills. All the bedrooms have ensuites and every cottage is equipped with TV/VCR/CD, air-conditioning and ceiling fans. Tastefully appointed with an eclectic blend of timber furniture, carved screens, wooden chests and original art work, provides this romantic accommodation with a special ambience. After a day of wine-tasting on Hermitage Road, light the fire (wood is provided) and relax in the spa.
For dinner, guests can pick up a gourmet barbeque pack to cook on the verandah while the sun sets behind the casuarinas. There is also a self-contained kitchen, and the Hunter Region is very well endowed with award winning restaurants, all just a few minutes away. Guests will find provisions for a generous breakfast as well!
