Colonial Style Homestead preserving the style and luxury of the region's early architecture with extensive use of native woods. French doors from guest rooms open onto the wide verandahs embracing extensive park-like gardens. 


The farm house kitchen provides hearty country fare breakfasts, with dinners by prior arrangement. (24 hours notice appreciated if possible).

Close to river and sea beach, surrounded by native bush and history. Sit by the open fire in the guest lounge and hear your hosts’ family cultural stories telling of the Navigators, the stars and their Maori connections to the lands.

For the petrol heads - enjoy a nostalgic visit to see the collection of vintage Morris 8 cars at the Homestead. Family pets complete the welcome to the Homestead.



Your hosts, Pauline and Hëmi...Pauline, born, lived and educated in Hokitika, raised 4 children, enjoys her grandchildren. Loves cooking, gardening and hosting people in the Homestead. Hemi, born overseas, Maori family connections, traditional storyteller & Maori cultural environmentalist, father & grandfather. Re-builds vintage Morris 8 cars. Both enjoy hosting overseas guests and sharing in the experiences that they bring to the Homestead.
