We wanted to have a decent holiday ... and New Zealand was magic. We had an amazing few days on our "honeymoon" at Umoya Lodge and as we traveled south through the whole country, the views, culinary delights and adventures continued to wow us!

Why did you choose this destination?
We LOVE our food and wine and really enjoy skiing, so New Zealand was perfect. The trip was cost effective & very relaxing.

Why did you choose this accommodation?
We chose a lot of places prior to leaving but left booking things until we were there ... this ment a lot of the time we negotiated our own price. Once a week we splurged on a luxury self contained unit on a winery or farm. This allowed us to settle for a few days in the region & cook for ourselves and clean our clothes. Other times we stayed in Accour hotels in the larger cities which allowed us to be close to the action & stay for less than $100 a night.

What was your 'Honeymoon Highlight'?
Our first few days at Umoya Lodge were spectacular. We arrived two days after our wedding and enjoyed massages, spa treatments, a 4 course private dinner each night, a great breakfast each morning, plenty of wine by the fireplace and took in the stunning views across the seabird coast. It was so great to just kick back and relax after a very hectic year leading up to the big day. Reading, picnicking & relaxing in our suite were exactly what all new couples should indulge in.

Would you recommend this destination to other couples?
Yes
Why?
We found New Zealand to be so versatile. One day we would be wine tasting all day, the next we would spend hiking. We skied, took in the local fresh food markets, visited horse stables, ate at SO MANY amazing cafes and restaurants and participated in some of the general tourist attractions. In four weeks, we truly absorbed so much of New Zealand and we never felt rushed or pressed for time. We came home, happy to be back and absolutely revitalised.

Umoya was amazing. We also really enjoyed Telegraph Hills. Being in the north island in the winter, we were able to negotiate major discounts off accommodation over the phone.
