Asia for Two - Guilin, China - Best for Scenery

> > by Marianne Rogerson

According to a popular Chinese saying,
Most of the sights are within easy cycling distance of the centre of Guilin, including the lyrically named Solitary Beauty Peak, with its sweeping views across the city, Mulong Lake Park with its picturesque Song-dynasty pagoda, and the huge Reed Flute Cave boasting impressive stalactites and stalagmites.

A cruise down the Li River brings you to the even more spectacular setting of Yangshuo. The leisurely boat trip will take you past rural scenes of rustic farmhouses, water buffalo and farmers tending their crops. Once you arrive, you can explore on foot, by bike or by boat to discover picturesque ancient villages, scenic lakes and limestone pinnacles. If you’re looking for sensational holiday snaps, you won’t leave disappointed.
